The Waiver Wire Episode 5 - "Like Businessmen"

"All the pieces matter." - Detective Minh

Detective Minh
If I'm looking at these records correctly...
And I'd like to think that I am.

Detective Minh
The Greek's Fantasy Team looks like one of the worst I have ever seen.
James White? Sony Michel?
Powell?
What in the hell is wrong with his starting running backs?

Narrator
In the SCGD unit run by The Baugh, Detective Minh is watching film on The Greek.

Detective Howard
Doesn't look too good.
But he may surprise us, he won a Championship last season, after all.

Detective Minh
Maybe he is under federal protection.
Based on my projections, I think this is going to be an easy win.
My concern is, traces of blue meth have been found all over San Francisco.

Detective Howard
Take a look at this.
Prop Vinny appears to be a leading distributor of the blue meth.

Detective Minh
Then maybe we should start taking a closer look at Prop Vinny.

Detective Minh notices that Detective Howard missed a player on a bye week
and has failed to make a Waiver Wire transaction this season.

Detective Minh
Wait, hold up now.
You're going to want to monitor the Waiver Wire, Howard.
Update your team and catch the bye weeks.

Detective Howard
The Waiver Wire?
I thought we weren't looking at Barksdale and Bell anymore.
Why is it pertinent?

Detective Minh
Why is it pertinent?
The Greek may be linked to Prop Vinny.
Prop Vinny is a rival dealer for Barksdale and Bell.
If Prop Vinny is distributing blue meth,
we may catch it on the Waiver Wire connected to Barksdale and Bell.
All the pieces matter, alright?

Detective Minh
If we put it all together, we may just figure out The Greek's identity.

Across the city, Detective Tai is investigating a murder as he has been reassigned to homicide.

Detective Tai
This body belongs to Coach Stealthy.

Michael Thomas
Head coach of the Coyotes.
He's been missing since the end of last season.
Found here in the vacants.

Michael Thomas
San Francisco has a string of vacant homes in the Tenderloin,
and tons of missing persons cases.
I bet if we looked into more vacant homes, we may find some of these missing persons.

Detective Tai
Now the question is, who would want to kill Coach Stealthy?

In the north side of San Francisco, Marlo Stealthy meets with Prop Vinny.

Prop Vinny
You know why wolves howl?
When a pack of wolves are separated,
they sometimes howl so that other members of the pack can find them.
Their howls can sometimes be heard from miles on end...
That's what I'm offering you.
An opportunity to join the co-op.
In the Co-Op, we share information.
Knowledge, power.... and most importantly, the blue meth.
If you're ever in trouble, just give us a howl and we'll be right there.

Prop Vinny
You see, you south side Fantasy Managers,
are like a bunch of republicans and democrats.
What we got in the north, is a bipartisan leadership.
You can fight over territory on the south side, but here in the north.
We're thriving.. and the next step is the playoffs.

Marlo Stealthy
I thought you had information on Oumar.
You got me out in the north side trying to sell me on a membership to join your book club?

Prop Vinny
I do have information on Oumar.
Word is, he hit up a poker room a couple of weeks ago.
Heard you got caught in the middle of it.

Marlo Stealthy
How you know this?

Prop Vinny
I make it my business to keep my ear to the ground.
I even heard that Oumar planned on hitting the joint up before he did it.

Marlo Stealthy
And you didn't think to tell me?

Prop Vinny
Had no incentive to.
I'm in the business of helping those that can return the favor.
Those in the Co-Op.
Like a howling wolf, I could have warned you before the shit went down.

Marlo Stealthy
So where's Oumar now?

Prop Vinny
He's in the wind as of now.
With Barksdale putting a bounty on his head and you looking to do the same,
it's not surprising to see that Oumar is no where to be found.
But if you join the Co-Op, I'd make sure you're the first to find Oumar.

Marlo Stealthy
How do I know you ain't just making this shit up?

Prop Vinny
You don't.
But if you join us, I assure you, we share the best information.
The best supply, the best locations and we even offer the best lawyers,
in case you get into trouble.

Marlo Stealthy
I got lawyers.

Prop Vinny
Who's your lawyer?

Marlo Stealthy
Saul Goodman.

Prop Vinny
Shit.... the type of lawyer guilty people hire?

Marlo Stealthy
What I gotta give up to get that good shit?

Prop Vinny
Muscle. You got muscle.
Should Jesse Barksdale decide to escalate relations,
it'd be best to have a Fantasy Team as strong as yours on our side.

Marlo Stealthy
Barksdale?
I heard you're trying to cut a deal with him.

Prop Vinny
I've talked to Kenneth Bell.
He'll do his best, but that's no concern of mine.
Either way, it's a win - win for me.
If Barksdale joins the fold, more territory for the Co-Op.
If he doesn't, maybe this drives a wedge between Barksdale and Bell.

Kenneth Bell
So...
Week 6. We're nearing the midpoint of the season.
And I hate to say it, Jes...
But we're not looking so hot out there.
At least compared to previous seasons.
I'm off to a bad start.
You coming back up in the standings, but your points total is low.
D'justin is struggling as well...
I'm saying, we gotta change up, Jes.
Do something different.

Jesse Barksdale
Yeah, I got something in the works.
Something that's gonna get us back into playoff contention.
What you think about bringing in Brother Nicholas?

Kenneth Bell
Brother Nicholas?
From Cameron House?
That piece of shit that quit on our league and blocked me on Facebook?
That Brother Nicholas?

Jesse Barksdale
Yeah. But he a good Fantasy Manager.
One of the best regular season performers in recent memory.
We get him back in the cut, mother fuckers like Oumar, Marlo Stealthy and Prop Vinson.
They won't be able to touch us.

Kenneth Bell
Look b.
Maybe we don't need Brother Nicholas.
I talked with Prop Vinny, and he setting up a Co-Op.
He showed me the quality of his shit, 99.7% purity.
He got his Fantasy Team outperforming mine by 27 points last week.
So I'm saying, maybe we should consider his offer.
No more beefing over corners, no more bodies on the street.
Less bodies mean less police activity and less players going to jail or IR.
Prop Vinny willing to share that good Blue shit...
But the cost of business, is a couple of corners on the south side.
Maybe give up one of the towers in the terrace,

Jesse Barksdale
Give up a tower?
String, how that gonna look when we giving up territory to a rival dealer from the north side?
You give an inch, Prop Vinny gonna take a mile.
That mother fucker will be running South San Francisco, before we know it.
You want me to give up corners?

Kenneth Bell
We past that corner bullshit, man.
The money we made last season, it just came back.
The white man in the Ozarks man, he worked his magic.
That dirty money came back clean, b.
We got enough clean money to start our own businesses
and launder our own money into legit businesses.
Jes, we can walk away from the streets.
Leave behind the Fantasy Football world and become untouchable from the police.
We can buy real estate and property we can put our names on.
You just let Prop Vinny do his thing, we get another large influx of money,
and we can clean all that dirty money.
No corners, no territory, no nothing.
We get Prop Vinny's package, we ain't gotta see nothing but bank.
We make so much goddamn straight money,
the government come at us, ain't shit that they could say.

Jesse Barksdale
Businessmen... huh?

Kenneth Bell
Let the youngin's worry about how to retail, how to wholesale.
I mean, who gives a fuck about who standing on what corner,
if we taking that shit from off the top and putting that shit to good use?
Making that shit work for us.

Jesse Barksdale
Like businessmen.... hmmm?
Even after we let Oumar punk us in the street.
Now we're supposed to just let Vin take over our shop.

Kenneth Bell
Man, just let me talk to Vin.
We'll work something out.
And maybe we can smooth shit out with Oumar.
I mean, it ain't gonna be overnight, cause Oumar only knows what he knows.
But I think I could talk some sense into him.

Jesse Barksdale
Yeah, I ain't no suit wearing businessman like you.
You know?
I'm just a gangster, I suppose.
And I want my corners.
